Part-Time Finance Assistant

Job Title: Part-Time Bookkeeper (1 Day per Week – equivalent to eight hours)


Location: Fully Remote, with the option for partial hybrid working if London based.
Salary: £14.50 an hour (equivalent to £116 a week)
Hours: 1 day per week (8 hours worked flexibly)
Contract Type: six months with the potential to extend.

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Bookkeeper to support our finance operations on a part-time basis, one day per week. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a background in bookkeeping, who is looking for flexible working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software such as Xero.

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, donations, receipts, and payments.

  • Reconcile bank statements and company credit cards.

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable.

  • Prepare payments for authorisation.

  • Support HMRC submissions.

  • Assist with month-end reporting.

  • Liaise with external accountants and assist with year-end processes.

  • Maintain proper filing systems and ensure compliance with UK financial regulations.

  • Support with other reasonable administrative tasks (such as maintaining the equipment ledger)

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar finance role.

  • Proficiency with accounting software such as Xero (preferable), QuickBooks, or Sage.

  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

  • Knowledge HMRC reporting requirements is a plus.

  • AAT qualification or equivalent experience preferred.
